I survived shopping Lilly Pulitzer X Target

Lilly Pulitzer for Target has introduced this iconic Southern American fashion designer to many who have never heard of her or her colorful fashions. Before getting into my shopping experience on the Lilly Pulitzer for Target release date I wanted to give a little background on the designer herself. Lilly Pulitzer, was an American socialite and fashion designer. Lilly Pulitzer is she was called the "Queen of Prep" with her line featuring bright, colorful, floral prints. Her brand is wildly popular with high society.

Lilly didn't set out to be a designer. She started out found squeezing juice at a stand and made such a mess of her clothes. Seeking to camouflage the juice stains, she designed a sleeveless shift dress made of bright, colorful printed cotton. She found out that customers loved her dress, so she produced more in order to sell them at her juice stand. Eventually, she was selling more dresses than juice, and decided to focus on designing and selling what had become known as her "Lillys".

After Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was featured in Life magazine donning one of Lilly's famous shifts, many preppy ladies followed her lead. The Jacqueline dress is one of Lilly Pulitzer's most successful styles. By 1984, Lilly closed down the entire clothing operation. In 1993, the rights to the brand were purchased by Sugartown Worldwide, Inc, "they just loved Lilly, their mothers and sisters loved Lilly, and they wanted to bring the line back." Pulitzer was not involved in the day-to-day administration of the company, but she continued to serve in the role of creative consultant, approving new designs, fabrics, and collections, and branching out into other product lines. The line is now own by Oxford Industries, Inc.

With that being said. Target's roll out for the Lilly Pulitzer collection was horrible. I was upset when Target silently announced the plus size part of the line would only be sold online. The sentiment being plus size women don't spend and they didn't want to have unsold stock in the store. Which is a slap in the face because I ran in to Target others collaboration for straight size unsold stock in the Goodwill. So whatever to that. Let's fast forward past that to April 19th the big day. First the link to purchase was leaked early before the scheduled release time. Which allow some of the items to be sold down. I was up at 2 A.M. the scheduled release time and nothing. I then took to twitter to see what everyone other was saying and needless to say it wasn't nice. This the Target site change and allow me to start select from the collection. The site was moving so slow. I was afraid of the site was going lose my basket because the site kept on refreshing. My fear came to past because Target took the site offline and my basket was going. The Target & Target style twitter account then posted basically saying the site was down and they would tweet when it was back up (they didn't).

The website was up and quickly placed my order in and I cut down on what I was getting because I didn't want the site to go back down while I was trying to get other items. Which the site did go down right after I placed my order. I later found out there was a 5 item limit any. This limit was not shown on the website but later reviled when you got ready to check out. Other issue included checkout out paying and later getting an item stating your items were out of stock.
