Garnerstyle for Rebdolls

7:47 PM Unknown 1 Comments

Often times when a brand collaborates with a blogger the results are on target.  That's why so many do it.  Blogger tend to have their finger on the pulse of the people.  Their large amount of followers are instant buyers in the waiting.  The Nadia Aboulhosn and Boohoo project showed us what a blogger can do for a brand.  Another prime example of this Gabi Fresh of gabifresh.com and Swim Suits For All.  This collaboration was amazing.  It birthed the phrase "fatkini".  Now we have Chastity of garnerstyle.blogspot.com and Rebdolls doing the latest collabo.

I had never purchased from the brand before.  I had heard sizing was an issue.  I did however want to support a fellow blogger.  I also know Chastity wouldn't put her name on something that she didn't believe in.  So of course when Rebdolls announced the release of Garnerstyle for Rebdolls I quickly placed my order.  I did a first opinion post on my Instagram.  I said "It was super fast shipping and good quality."  Both true.  When I ordered I did the free 5 to 7 day shipping.  I got a notice the same day saying my items were being shipped.  I don't know it they normally ship that fast.  Again,  This was my first time placing an order with them.  If this is how quickly they get their orders out I'm very impressed.

I know when ordering online it can be hit or miss.  Especially when it comes to plus size.  Well this collection was a hit for me.  Chastity's style can be described as classy and this collection was very much in line with her style.  I got the boat neck crop top stripped and the golden yellow skirt both in size 2X. For me it was true to size.  I paired them with my Fry purse from Akira and all red sandals for Forever 21.  I got many compliments about my outfit.  I'm very happy with the items I selected and how quickly they arrived.  The Garner collaboration made me take a closer look at Rebdolls and I'll be picking up a few more items from them.  Congrats Chastity can't wait to see the next line.

7/11 Beach Party

5:22 PM Unknown 0 Comments

When I use to think of 7/11 I would think of delectable slurpee of  all favors from the convenience store 7-Eleven.  Fanta wild cherry, sour patch watermelon, Coca-cola just to name a delicious few.  Or more recently the song 7/11 by Beyonce were she had us dancing to lyrics like "Wave your hands side to side, put it in the air Wave your hands side to side, put it in the air Clap, clap, clap like you don't care Smack that, clap, clap, clap like you don't care"
Now I have a new reason to smile when I think of 7/11 and that's a beach party I had with my girls.  We all met up at the Lake Front here in Chicago and had an amazing time.  Spearheaded Crystal a group on us donned our swimsuits 1 and 2 pcs to listens to music, chat, dance, eat and share in a lot of laughs over drinks.

I showed up popping two bottle of Moscato.  My plan was not to take them back home.   Miranda made jello shots of all favors.  She was heavy handed on the liquor she put in them but no one was upset about that, lol.  Our food included chicken & chips so you know it went down.  The weather wasn't idea but we didn't let that bother us.  We weren't going to let a few rain drops stop our fun.

It's great to come together with good people and have a fun filled positive time.  I even met some new people who I hope to keep in touch with.  The plus community in Chicago needs to do this more often.  When you fellowship with people that look like you it will helps with the lone feelings some may have.  It truly boosts your self confidence.  We all had on our swimsuits on and no one appeared to feel uncomfortable.  I had true feeling of body acceptance.

This was a great event/party/meet-up whatever you want to call it.  I encourage the plus community in Chicago to come together to eat, drink and be merry more often!

My winning story | The Illinois Lottery Erykah Badu Concert

8:38 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I love all things Chicago! Being born and raised in Chicago the Taste of Chicago has been a must attend event every year.  The food draws you in.  Imagine having delicious sample sizes of the best to eat and drink that Chicago has to offer.  Then add in the good citizens of Chicago.  Followed up with live music at the Petrillo band shell. That's a recipe for a great time.  This year my experience included The Illinois Lottery.  I was treated to The Illinois Lottery Erykah Badu Concert and it was my best time ever at the Taste!  I made sure to come early to get a good seat.  I was accompanied by my good friend Dana as well as food blogger and friend Rachel of eattheburbs.com.  We mingled at the food tent for longer then we probably should have, lol.  The food provided for the invited guest was very tastily.  I'm still thinking about those fish tacos now.  There was a little something for everyone.  To top it off they had the cutest rice crispy treat as dessert decorated in The Illinois Lottery traditional colors of blue and yellow.

We were drawn outside by the roar of the crowd.  I know the music was about to start.  First up was Trombone Shorty.  A New Orlean native who sure can blow!  I was not familiar with his music before hearing him play at the concert.  I can say he's earned himself a fan.  He played uptempo beats to traditional New Orleans marching brand sound.  Which had a few ladies twirling their umbrellas.  He had us all up and moving.  I loved it!

After Trombone Shorty got the crowd warmed up Erykah Badu took to the stage and did her thang.  She dawned a large hat that when removed revealed a beautiful turban.  She also worn her feather wings.  Let's just say I was here for her fashions.  Erykah's live singing voice is just as beauty as she is.  She sung all my favorites.  My heart was happy.  It was like singing along with an old friend.  From "Bag Lady" to "Call Tyrone" I was taken back to my very first time I was introduced to her music.  Beyond singing Erykah Badu AKA Fat Belly Bella was funny.  She's a true performer.  She had us laughing.  She even joked around with the sign language interpreter.  She mention how many years it's been since she's been to Chicago.  I must say Chicago welcomed her back with opened arms.

I want to thank The Illinois Lottery for bringing Erykah Badu back to Chicago.  The Illinois Lottery Erykah Badu Concert was great.  My friends agree because we talked about it all night.  If you weren't able to attend the The Illinois Lottery Erykah Badu Concert you can find pictures and video on social media.  Find out more about this and more events done by The Illinois Lottery by using the following link http://bit.ly/1HxmS2w.  You can find The Illinois Lottery by using the handle @IllinoisLottery on Twitter  and Instagram.  On Facebook search The Illinois Lottery to find them there.  Also, use the hashtag #IllinoisLottery #mywinningstory to see postings.
