Say it with your chest!

3:27 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Clothes are a great way to express yourself.  Cute tees with popular saying help get your thoughts across quickly.  I love wearing "Saying tees."  You can throw them on with everything.  Shorts, pants or your favorite high waisted skirt.  Whether you're having a Mean Girl day " You can't seat with us." or feeling empowered "Love what you do." saying tees allow you to speak volumes without messing up your favorite lippie,  lol.

What does your shirt say?

I'll have water, Please!

9:50 AM Unknown 0 Comments

                                                        I'll have water, PLEASE!

I'll be the first to say I'm not a big water drinker.  I'm trying to change all that.  I mean let's be honest it doesn't have any taste.  However lately I've been feeling blotted.  My families' health history has been a concern.   I'm not a diabetic but it does run in my family and as I get older I know I have to take better care of my body.  The best cure to any disease is prevention .  Water is also essential to controlling your blood pressure.  I'm starting to take a lot of small steps to improve my future quality of life.  Drinking more water is my first step.

often would reach for juice since I'm not really a soda kind a girl.  I was fooling myself into thinking I was doing better with this choice.  Juice drinks have just as much or more sugar content as some soda drinks.  So I'm backing away from the juices and pulling up to the water jug, lol.  I'm including more than drinking water as part of my daily  healthier fluid intake.  I'm including  fruits, and vegetables also.

Be careful because too much fluid in your body can make it harder for your heart to pump.  Space your fluid intake throughout the day.  Remember that some fruits and vegetables have high water content so include these foods when keeping track of your fluid intake. For example, eating one medium orange or a half cup of watermelon is the same as drinking a half cup of liquid.  I going to try and avoid alcohol (This is a hard one)  and caffeine. Alcohol can decrease the heart’s ability to contract properly and caffeine can put additional stress on the heart.

How much water should I drink each day? It's a simple question without a simple answer. It really depend you.  No single formula fits everyone, knowing more about your body's needs help you estimate how much water to drink each day.  Your health, how active you are and where you live.  It's said women should have 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.  I've seen a water formula used that take your weight in lbs/2= daily water consumption in ounces (Example: my weight 245 lbs/2= 122.5 ounces of water.  The "8 by 8" rule remains popular because it's easy to remember. Just keep in mind that when following this rule: "Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day," because all fluids count toward the daily total.

Here's a good recipe to help in drinking more water

Cucumber and Mint Water
Ingredients
1 cup sliced cucumbers
1 cup sliced strawberries
2 limes or lemons, sliced
¼ cup fresh mint leaves
Ice cubes
Water

Direction: In 2 quart pitcher, add the cucumbers,
strawberries, lime or lemon slices, mint leaves,
ice cubes, and fill with water. Chill in refrigerator
for 10 minutes.

I am not a medical professional nor do a play one on TV (haaaaaaaaaaaaa) talk to your doctor before making any diet changes.

Dressing room Confessions

1:08 AM Unknown 0 Comments

This is my confession (in my Usher singing voice).  The dress instagram loved so much is really two pieces!!  A crop top and a matching skirts.

                      Get this look

My phone died just after I posted the above picture.  I just wanted to announce that I was bringing back Dressing room confessions.  Dressing room confessions was one on the most popluar spots on my blog.  I enjoyed doing it also.  I mean what girl doesn't like playing dress up.  It was a nice surprise when I got home and seeing that y'all liked how I paired the two pieces together.

This Forever 21+ Top does look great paired with it's matching skirt or a solid back skirt.  This crop top features a baroque pattern and short sleeves and would good with jeans also.  It's lightweight knit 93% polyester, 7% spandex 16.5'' full length, 37'' chest, 34'' waist, 6.5'' sleeve length measured from 1X.  The model is wearing a size 1x top and skirt.  I'm wearing a 3x top and a 2x skirt.  I could have selected a 2x top but wanted extra room.

The above picture was put together by me

Both pieces feel great on.  If you decide to get just the top or the skirt; hell if you match them up like I did just make sure you're rocking them with confidence!

Link below will take you right to the top

Skirt can also be found using the same link.

Backhanded Compliments

8:47 PM Unknown 0 Comments

                                                    Beware of backhanded compliments

We've all heard them before.  Pretty for a big girl.  *Pause*  Are you saying big girls (women) are general ugly?  You have a lot of confidence.  *Pause*  Are you saying because I'm a big girl (woman) I shouldn't love my body and be proud to show it.  Or my favorite you look great now that you've lost weight.

I posted on my Instagram page the other day me wearing a tube top with some somewhat dressy jogging pant and a duster as part of Marie Denee, The Curvy Fashionsta's August photo challenge.  It was challenge number 3: Casual Sunday.

Well later that day I got a text from someone stating " Belly all out today lol." I replied "Ya and?!"  To which they responded "Happy spirits."  That had me thinking what does that mean so I asked.  They said " You're a happy spirit(ed) person.  I had to tell them "What are you trying to say?  It feels like you're talking in code."

People will try to talk down to you in a polite way like just because you had an extra cookie or two you can't catch on to what they're saying. So not only are you  calling us fat ( like that's suppose to hurt our feelings) plus you think I'm not smart enough to see you're low key talking about me.

Being a plus size woman is not for everyone.  People to talk about you.  They will call you names.  The judgement is real.  You can lose weight if you want.  Being happy and healthy should always be number 1!  Push back from the table.  Exercise. I encourage everyone to get out and about.  I just told Brandie of Lashes and Stilettos,  That I'm heavier then I'd like to be for my normal fat self. We agreed when she has her baby we can support each other to getting back to a sizes we prefer.  But PLEASE know this if you love yourself at 250 getting down to 150 it's going to increase the self love.  True beauty starts from within ( in my any Disney princess voice).

Look good and feel good for yourself and respond to backhanded compliments with a "Thanks, I guess"
