Don't throw that M.A.C. out (Back to M•A•C Program)

12:43 PM Unknown 2 Comments

Back to M•A•C Program is a program were M•A•C accepts returns of its primary packaging.  By returning six [6] M•A•C primary packaging containers to a M•A•C counter or M•A•C Cosmetics online, you’ll receive a free M•A•C lipstick of your choice as a thanks to you.  Since 100% of the retail selling price of Viva Glam Lipsticks is provided to organizations that help people living with HIV/AIDS, these colours are excluded from this program.
Most primary packaging of M·A·C products is accepted as Back to M·A·C "currency." M·A·C does not accept the following as a part of the program:
1.Secondary packaging of any sort [paper box, plastic/cellophane wrapper, shopping bags, etc.] 2.Samples [sample containers, special/trial size products for promotional/seasonal kits] 3.Cosmetic applicators/tools [disposables, puffs, sponges, scissors, spatulas, swabs, sharpeners , tweezers, curlers] 4. D.I.Y. Project "Ornament earrings"

12:23 AM Unknown 0 Comments

The top three pictures are the items you'll need.  You pull the hook a loose from the earring with the puller.  Hook it on the ornament (best to use a small light weight ornament).  Used the bumper to close the hook onto the ornament. All done.  The small ornaments I used were sold separately but were on sale for $.69 each.  D.I.Y. done using things I already had for total cost of $1.38
Tweet me @fatgirl_fashion any questions.  Happy holidays!

Target hacked durning Christmas season

10:13 AM Unknown 0 Comments

I have a love love relationship with Target but this right here has me hot.  This is unacceptable & some people there need to be fired!!!  The government needs to investigate this ASAP.  Millions of people will be harmed by this for the next several months.  Everyone should call their banks & request new cards if you shopped there this season.

Searching for a crop sweater

9:20 PM Unknown 1 Comments

This fashion look was inspired by Kim aka @naturallyfashionable cropped sweater instagram post.  I love her look but a crop sweater in plus are hard to find.  I contacted her and asked where she came across her fab find. She advised me she had picked it up at Forever 21.  I hadn't see it in store or online and I'm also aware their selections vary from location to location even in the same city.

I wasn't discouraged in my search. Keeping my eyes open and looking around in different locations *que horns* there it was. Just hanging there in the straight sizes at Nordstrom rack.
I would like to say a few things.  It's ok to ask people where they purchased an item you like.  Along with that it's ok to tell people were you picked up items at.
It doesn't take away from how great you look in your garments.  Second it's ok to look in other section beyond "plus size".  Straight size offers many options for a curvy sister.  Lastly give credit and support.  Kim gives great style inspiration.  To be inspired by someone doesn't make you a copy cat.
You have to bring your own flare to the pieces and breathe life into them.  Kim can be found on Instagram under @naturallyfashionable & she can be found on her YouTube channel searching naturallyfashionable.

Double Standard

8:28 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Why is there a double standard when is comes to male vs. female of size?  Why is Rick Ross ok to run out on every stage shirtless as leader of sexy beard gang however Gabby can't even get a you look fabulous at the Oscars & have the respect of the full figured community.   When you see a plus woman what runs though your mind? Does it differ from what you think when you see a husky man?  Even the language we use when speaking about people of size of different sexes.  Men's sizes are called husky or big & tall while women's sizes are called plus or extended.
I know I won't answer all the world's question but I hope to spark the a good debate among friends.

Nordstrom's Pretty Party

2:36 PM Unknown 2 Comments

I attended a "Pretty Party" at the Schaumburg Nordstrom.  Nordstrom has many events throughout the year focused on makeup, lingerie, etc.  The event I attended was hosted by the department manger of Cosmetics & Fine Fragrances Katie Steiner.  It started at 8AM & you had to RSVP by paying $20.  The $20 was placed on a gift card that could be used as a credit toward make up of your choice that day.  To RSVP you had to call or stop by your favorite cosmetics counter.  I registered by calling the cosmetics department.

When I arrived I was greeted by friendly faces with snacks & beverages.   I was introduce to brands I hadn't heard of like Jo Malone London and of course I saw brands I know and love like Mac & Chanel.

It's was a make up junkie's dream.  There were so many muas with brushes in hand to make pretty women gorgeous.  Dana attended as a guest of mine and got her face beat by make up magician Rachel.  Rachel was extremely inviting.  She had a working knowledge about all the different cosmetic lines which was impressive.  Rachel chatted us up to the tune of over $200 in products when she was done.  All necessary of course, lol.

I do encourage make up novice to experts, to attend Nordstrom's make up events.  It allowed me to get one-on-one beauty attention with beauty industry insiders. They'll share the latest beauty tips and tricks for their product lines.
Nordstrom offered complimentary makeup or skincare consultation. You also gained access to free customized samples and exclusive gifts with purchase.  The one I attended had giveaways also.  My guest was a winner.

Needless to say I'M LOOKING FORWARD to the next Nordstrom's Pretty party.

First Plus Size date night dinner & a movie

10:36 AM Unknown 3 Comments

A date with me comes with more than just a meal and a show it includes love, laugher, memories and a chance to make some new friends.  The first Plus Size date night was wonderful.

The first plus size date night included viewing "The Best Man Holiday" at the Icon theater on Roosevelt in Chicago.  The movie was well worth the cost of the ticket.  I laughed,  I cried and laughed again as I got reintroduced to the cast again.  There has been a 15 year break since the first movie but I couldn't tell.  The ladies that attended the movie all agreed that the movie was great.  I'm not going to go into great detail about the movie because some have not seen it yet and I don't want to be spoil it.

After the movie we jetted over Lalo's Mexican restaurant on Maxwell.  That's when the real fun started.  The food was great and the staff was friendly.  There was a live band to set the mode and the flowing drinks didn't hurt.

I want to personal thank all the ladies that came out and showed their support.  I feel that this first event was a great success.

A luxury bridal boutique Haute & Co offers sizes from 12 to 28 ( if you are smaller or larger, contact them ).  Shannella advised delivering a superior bridal experience and offering classic, fashion-forward plus size wedding dresses sets them apart from a box retailer for women of size in search for a bridal dress.  This starts by being the exclusive local retailer of the designers such as Emmaline Bridal, Essense of Australia and Lea-Ann Belter.

Haute & Co. Bridal Boutique's bridal stylists work with you directly.  You are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.hauteandco.com or by phone (312) 344-1625.  An experience can take as long as hour and a half so this appointment only boutique can not accommodate walk-ins.

OOTD 11/17

3:48 PM Unknown 0 Comments

The styles are changing from Summer fun to holiday glam.  I'm feeling very glamorous in my Forever 21 shirt.  It has a black & gold base with pink & cream highlights.  For a contrast I paired it with a maroon tank also Forever 21 and a Sam & Libby shoe from Target.

This Forever 21 coat adds to the glam factor.  This budget friendly beige frock adds an air of sophication to any look.  It comes with buttons and a belt however it has no pockets.  I love it.  Great for work, dinner date, church or visiting the family durning the holidays.

Be yourself

7:51 AM Unknown 0 Comments

I've learned over time that I'm an amazing person.  Toots my own 🎷 😆 .  Because of the 6 pillars you see here.  When you give out good vibes good comes to you.  These things will speak for you.  I'm not the best "blogger".  I'm not the best dressed.  But what I do do is accept what I am.  A fat girl that loves fashion.  What I do do is encourage others to reach for greatness within themselves.  I'm far from rich money wise but my cups runs over when it come to happiness joy.  I have a purse full of love & laughs and I share that freely.  I thank everyone that came out to support me last night.  Strangers become friends when you step out on faith.  Just be yourself it works for me😜

Going Natural *update*

5:56 AM Unknown 1 Comments

Since my big chop my hair has been healthier than ever.  If you haven't read my post "Going Natural" I did a big chop in late September.  Where I cut my own hair.  Since then I've been treating my damaged hair with only Cantu products.

My hair is damaged very bad from poor maintenance on my part.  Because I'm not a beautiful bald do to patches I've opted to wear a wig till my hair fills in.  Which it is slowly.

Just wanted to give a quick update on my hair journey.

Note: I do not work for Cantu nor was I gifted any of their products.

Curves. Couture. Chicago.

4:22 AM Unknown 0 Comments

I had the privilege of attending first ever fashion show in Fashion Focus Chicago geared toward the plus size community.  It was called "Curves. Culture. Chicago." organized by Tressa Thomas of Project Thyck and hosted by Val Waner of Channel 7's Windy City Live.

This event had it all.  Music by a jazz band along with singing by Ms. Thomas herself.  Jazz style dancing from Forum Dance Theatre & Footprints Tap Ensemble, men, models and of course wonderful fashions.

Represented were the likes of Niehla O of Chocolate Sushi Couture.  She sent some fabulous original plus size fashion down.  I fall in love with a sheer black top pictured above.  Niehla O current work can be found at chocolatesushicouture.com . Niehla O is a make up artist as well.  That's a double threat!

Blair Chic Boutique also showed various plus size looks.  Blair Chic is a plus size boutique location at 1343 N. Ashland, Chicago.  Blair Chic has become the unofficial home of many plus size events from collection showings to clothing drives.  The owner Blair keeps her hand on the pulse of the plus mart in Chicago.  Her fashions can also be purchased online at blairchicboutique.com .

There was also eye candy at the beauty Millennium Knickerbocker hotel.  Talk show host Steve Harvey men's suit line also was shown.  Oftening fashionable suits that would please men of all ages and sizes.  Even though Steve wasn't there himself the male models he had representing  him were able to fill his big shoes.

The mother/daughter owners of Bonjour Madame & Boutique Unique had two collections shown.  They have elegant dresses for women's of all sizes.  Their frocks offered nothing less than an air of class and sophistication.  This mother/daughter duo can be found at one of their two boutiques in Niles,IL Bonjour Madame or Boutique Unique.

The vendors were as eye catching as the runway show.  The likes of Funky Flower Child, and the sisters in law owners of Vixen had my looking around for my purse.

There were many fashionable guest seated to view the fashions and the raffles items kept the crowd engaged.  I even won one a gift for instagramming live from the event.  I personal invited all my Chicago followers and was very please to see fellow bloggers Iraeisastylist, Plussizeinchicago_she and Plusmodelmichelle.  The show overall was amazing and I'm excited to see what will be served up in 2014!

*Special thank you to Thyck Troupe for the event invite*
